With the publication of a study on dark matter and the publication of a book on the school-to-prison pipeline, Northeastern Illinois University faculty members have again put themselves at the forefront of academic research. Northeastern to host Veterans Career and Internship Fair on March 6

Northeastern Illinois University will host a Veterans Career and Internship Fair on Monday, March 6, from 4 to 8 p.m. in Alumni Hall on the Main Campus, 3701 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. in Chicago.

Geared toward veterans and military-connected dependents, the fair is free and open to the public. Attendees should bring plenty of resumes and are encouraged to dress professionally.

International team announces dark matter research results

Northeastern Illinois University Assistant Professor of Physics Orin Harris is part of the international PICO Collaboration team that this week announced that the PICO-60 dark matter bubble chamber experiment has produced a new dark matter limit after analysis of data from the most recent run.

Erica Meiners publishes book examining school-to-prison pipeline

Northeastern Illinois University Professor of Educational Inquiry and Curriculum Studies Erica Meiners has published a book that examines the school-to-prison pipeline and the U.S. prison industrial complex.

For the Children? Protecting Innocence in a Carceral State” is published by University of Minnesota Press.

12 honored at Black Heritage Awards

Twelve members of the Northeastern Illinois University community were honored during the 14th Annual Black Heritage Awards ceremony on Feb. 24 at the Jacob H. Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies.

The Heritage Awards Ceremony was hosted by the African and African American Resource Center and the Black Heritage Committee. This year’s honorees were:

Northeastern to host Education Job Fair on Feb. 28

Northeastern Illinois University will host the Spring 2017 Education Job Fair on Tuesday, Feb. 28.

The free event, which will draw more than 60 school districts from 13 states, is scheduled from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in Alumni Hall, 3701 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. in Chicago.
